Christean Davis Leggett, 77, of Huntsville died Sept. 3, 2010 at the Huntsville Hospital.
She was a native of Allen. She was a former member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church in Suggsville prior to joining the Mt. Horeb A.M.E. Church in Allen where she served faithfully as the church secretary, a Sunday School teacher and in a variety of other ministries until her health failed. She was also a member of Good Success No. 403 Order of the Eastern Star in Allen.
Survivors include two sons, Minister Christopher (Gwendolyn) Leggett, Huntsville, Ryan (Minister Janet) Leggett, Grove Hill; seven brothers, Jackie Davis, Sammie Davis, Alvin (Odessa) Davis and the Rev. Leroy (Alisa) Davis, all of Mobile, George (Sonya) Davis, Ft. Benning, Ga., John (Louise) Davis, Tom (Georgia) Davis Jr., both of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Retha (R.D.) Harper, Denver, Colo., Ethel Thomas, New York, N.Y., Dorothy Dickinson, Mobile; a brother-in-law, the Rev. J.W. (Eartha) Leggett, Mobile; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Witherspoon, Gloria Kidd-Davis, Katie Davis, all of Mobile, Shirley Davis, Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, one devoted, Brianna Ryan, Dennis, Jarmis, Jelesia, Kyteria, Trenton and Samuel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Samuel E. Leggett Sr.; infant son, Samuel E. Leggett Jr.; three brothers, Charle Davis, Bobby Davis, Perry Davis sister, Iola Bass.
The service was Sept. 11 at 11 a.m., at the St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. James M. Howard, pastor, and the Rev. Matthew Davis officiating minister. Burial was in the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Cemetery in Suggsville. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
