Joanne King Johnson, 45, of Grove Hill died Sept. 23, 2010 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1964 to the parentage of the late Evans King and Ruby Mae Burroughs King. She was baptized at an early age at Pure In Hearts Baptist Church in Detroit, Mich. She late united with Orange Hill Baptist Church where she remained a member until her demise. She was employed in the food service department of Exxon in Grove Hill. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved to make people laugh.
Survivors include one son, Tommie King, Grove Hill; one daughter, Tanya (Joshua Johnson) King, Grove Hill; one brother, Kable King, Selma; three sisters, Frances Watkins, Ella (Earnest) Gordon, Dale (Joseph) Dailey, all of Selma; one uncle, Vertice Burroughs, Grove Hill; one aunt, Bertha McElroy, Mobile; one granddaughter, Jalexia King, Grove Hill; a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Evans King Jr. and two sisters, Linda Mitchell and Jenice King.
The service will be Thursday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Orange Hill Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Rev. James Barron Sr., pastor, Rev. Cory Pruitt, eulogist. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson will direct.
