Mary D. "Ms. Nise" Jackson, a native a resident of Jackson, died Sept. 30, 2010 at the University of South Alabama Hospital in Mobile. The daughter of the late Johnnie and Jimmie Dell Jackson, she was 33 years of age at the time of her death.
At a young age, she united with the Mt. Sinai No. 1 Baptist Church in Jackson and later joined the All Faith Outreach Ministry in Pensacola, Fla. She was a member of the Jackson High School graduating Class of 1995 and later received an associate’s degree as a medical assistant at the Virginia College in Mobile. She was employed with the Mobile Press Register.
Survivors include two sisters, Johnetta L. Jackson and Florence M. Jackson, both of Jackson; three brothers, Jimmie E. (Omeka) Jackson of Sunflower, and Cleveland D. Jackson and James Jackson, both of Jackson; three devoted in-laws, Ophelia Simpson, Demetrius Davis and Omeka Jackson, all of Sunflower; devoted cousin, Callie House of Jackson; four devoted friends, Stacy Lawrence, Keila Belton-Doss, Tierra Washington and LaSedrick Adams, all of Jackson; six nieces and nephews, Michael Jackson of Jackson, Nygel, Bionca, Amarri, Amaniah and Destiny, all of Sunflower; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who are too numerous to name.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, 6-8 p.m., at the Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson and one hour prior to the 12:30 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Jackson. Overseer/prophetess Carolyn Newell and Pastor Alphonso Lucas, both of All Faith Outreach Ministry in Pensacola, will co-officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
