Dr. Warren N. Coleman, 90, died Oct. 12, 2010.
He was born Feb. 15, 1920 in Allen, the son of the late Calhoun and Betty Coleman. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1942. He was commissioned a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps serving two tours in the China-Burma-India and Philippine theatres. He obtained his D.D.S. degree from Emory University and a M.P.H. from the University of Michigan. His professional career as a dentist and public health official spanned 34 years until his retirement. He lived in Columbus, Ga. for 22 years and was a longtime member of the St. Marks United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Carey; grandson, 2LT. John P. Carey; granddaughter, Beth Newbold and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Hazel, wife of 57 years and formerly of Grove Hill. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Norman of Birmingham and his sister, Nell Bradford of Grove Hill.
The service will be Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, preceded by a short visitation and followed by an internment at Parkhill Cemetery. Pastor Scott Tucker of St. Marks will officiate.
