He was a native of Grove Hill. He was born to the parentage of the late Lockhart Chapman and Laura Mae Brown Chapman. He was a member of Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church. After working numerous years as a tractor driver, he retired from the City of Grove Hill. His quiet mannerism, willingness to share with others, and skill as a great guitarist will be pondered in the hearts of his family.
Survivors include one son, Sherman (Lisa) Hawkins, Frisco City; two daughters, Irma Pugh, Grove Hill, Bobby Diane Hansley, Mobile; three sisters, Veronia Hill, Cobbie Robinson (his twin sister), and Joe Alice Robinson, all of Grove Hill; eight grandchildren, devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Chapman, and three brothers, William Chapman, Cauldwell Chapman, and Robert Lewis Chapman.
The service was Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church, Grove Hill, Rev. Cory Pruitt, pastor and eulogist. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
