John Henry Luff, 83, of Grove Hill died Oct. 28, 2010 at Jackson Health Care Facility.
He was born Aug. 20, 1927. He was a native of Pike County, Indiana. He was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church. He was a Worshipful Master of Lodge #7 in Grove Hill. He was a mason and a member of Palace Lodge #765, a member of Abba Temple Shrine, the Tombigbee Shrine Club, a Life Member for the past 51 years of Scottish Rite Northern District. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a retired hospital administrator for the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Helen L. Luff, Grove Hill; two sons, Richard (Amy) Luff, Heritage, Tenn., Ronald (Vickie) Luff, Springfield, Ill.; three daughters, Lynn (Jay) Temple, Malabar, Fla., Lana Bonomo, Melburne, Fla., Lori (Chris) Weaver, Grove Hill; one brother, Claud Luff, Owensville, Indiana; two sisters, Ethel Pogorzelski, Stow, Ohio, Dosha Luff, Evansville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, John Richard Luff, Adam Luff, Ronald Luff II, Nick Luff, Emma Fagan, Todd Temple, Clay Weaver, and Emily Sheffield; one greatgrandchild, Chance Sheffield.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
The service was Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Masonic rites performed. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes. com.
