Josie Lucille Peavy Law, 102, of Salitpa died Nov. 6, 2010 at the Jackson Health Care Facility.
Survivors include two sons, Fletcher (Marye) Law Pelham, Mose Raymond (Arble) Law, Huntsville; four stepsons, Berry (Mary) Law Jr., Ulyess Law, Mobile, Tucker (Mittie) Law, Chester (Betty) Law, both of Jackson; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Law Dubose, Jackson, Minnie Law Johnson, Fairford; five grandchildren, Pearl Strong Munford, San Bernardino, Calif., Marcia Strong, Rio Alto, Calif., Timothy Law of Huntsville, Dr. Cheryl Marie Law, Anderson, S.C., Brian Alex Law, Pelham; four nieces, Odette (Lamar) Preston, Dallas, Ga., Leslie Peavy Hunter, Mildred Peavy Johnson, Joyce Peavy, all of Detroit, Mich.; five nephews, Cephus (Dorothy) Peavy, New Orleans, La., Nathaniel (Lucretia) Peavy,  Gulfport, Miss., Samuel (Ethel) Peavy, Biloxi, Miss., Percy Lee (Annie) Peavy, Jarratt, Va., Jimmy Lee (Dorothy) Peavy, Mobile; 28 step-grandchildren; and many other caring relatives, neighbors and friends.
She was the ninth of 10 children born to the late Mose and Lily Savannah Chapman Peavy. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alberta Peavy Durham, Octavia Peavy Bettis, Onnie Peavy Rice, Floyd Peavy, Lorenzo Peavy, Manon Leslie Peavy, Herbert Peavy, Claude Peavy and Leo Vernon Peavy. One son, Jessie Alvin Strong, and three grandchildren also preceded her in death.
A graveside service was Nov. 13 at 3 p.m., at the Good Hope Cemetery in Salitpa. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local Arthritis Foundation and/or Mental Health Association.
