Jimmy Hayes, 78, of Holly Pond, Ala. died Nov. 17, 2010 at his residence.
He was born March 4, 1932. He was a native of St. Stephens. He was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Mobile. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a truck driver for Priority Transportation in Cullman.
Survivors include his wife, Alice E. Hayes, Holly Pond; five sons, Eugene Hayes, Theodore, Billy Ray Hayes, Mobile, LaVon Hayes, Mitchell Hayes, both of Grand Bay, David Hayes, Holly Pond; three daughters, Glendean Hayes, Grand Bay, Debra Webb, Tanner Williams, Renia King, Grove Hill; three brothers, Lawrence Hayes, Chatom, William Hayes, Paul Hayes, both of Mobile; one sister, Margaret Beech Cook, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 19 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel in Chatom. The service will be Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at Clearwater Assembly of God Church in Wagarville with Revs. Jimmy Butts and Ray Williams officiating. He will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service. Burial will be in the Jones Beech Cemetery in Chatom. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.com.
