Melvin Raymond Thomas, 74, of Jackson died Nov. 21, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 26, 1935. He was a member and deacon of Stave Creek Baptist Church. He was millwright with Boise Paper Mill. Survivors include his wife, Ruby O. Thomas, Jackson; two sons, Phillip Thomas, James Melvin Thomas; both of Jackson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 1:30 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. service at Stave Creek Baptist Church with Rev. E.C. Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Stave Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stave Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.  Box 685, Jackson, AL 36545. Active pallbearers will be Armond Bradley, Melton DuBose, Bubba Rikard, Mavin Meyer, Ben Porter, John D. Knight and Joe DuBose.
Honorary pallbearers will be Earl McLendon, Leslie Hoven, Carlton Wade, Jimmy Furr, and Horace Schultz.
