James Bobby Bishop Sr., 74, of Thomasville died Dec. 8, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 2, 1936 in Thomasville. He spent his entire life living and working in Clarke County and worked many years in the family’s construction business. He served on the Thomasville City Council for many years and served as a Clarke County Commissioner for 20 years until his retirement in 2000. His true love and devotion was to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marion Ott Bishop; two children, James Bobby "Bo" (Candace Atkins) Bishop Jr. and Melinda Bishop (Edward K.) Aldag Jr.; his mother, Annie Laura Bishop; one brother, Jack (Lena Carol) Bishop; six grandchildren, Ally Bishop, Bryars Bishop, James Davis Bishop, Anna Ballowe Aldag, Edward Aldag III and Anderson Aldag.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hadley Bishop and a brother, Ted Bishop.
The service was Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Thomasville United Methodist Church with Revs. George Sedberry and Ed Aldag officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Hank Ott, Thomas Ott, Mike Overstreet, Mal Moseley, Brigg Bishop, Bill Bishop, Allen Bishop, Todd Bishop and Chris Bishop.
