Harvey Hardaway Jackson Jr., 93, of Grove Hill died Dec. 18, 2010 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was born March 28, 1917. He was a native of Deatsville.
He was a retired Circuit Clerk with the Clarke County Court System. He was a former school teacher. He was a graduate of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) with a degree in agriculture. He was a member of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church where he had served as chairman of the administrative board and treasurer. He was a Mason and past president of the Circuit Clerk Association. He was active in the Boy Scouts and received the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award. He was a great storyteller and historian. He served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fontaine Waite Jackson, Grove Hill; one son, Harvey "Hardy" Hardaway (Suzanne B.) Jackson III, Jacksonville; one sister, Anne Jackson Bennett, Seagrove Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Kelly Jackson (Jamie) Roberts, Hampton, Ga., William "Will" Blackwell Jackson, Anna Elizabeth Jackson, both of Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Hardaway Jackson Sr., Minnie Edwards Jackson, and a son, William "Bill" Waite Jackson, two sisters and one brother.
The service was Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at Grove Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Rhodes officiating. Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.co m. Lathan Funeral Home directed.
Active pallbearers were Jim Cox, Joe Lindsey, Paul Waite, Earnest Williams, Lee Williams, Jamey Dunagan and Mike Clanton.
