Uhbern Kirkland, 82, of Millry died Jan. 7, 2011 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.
He was born March 8, 1928 in Millry, (Red Creek community). He was a veteran of the United States Army during Korean Conflict. He was a businessman dealing with timber, cattle, farming and also operated convenient stores. He was known to have helped many people in the community and was a friend to many.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Holland Kirkland, Millry; two sons, Raymond (Jewel) Kirkland, Laurel, Miss., John (April) Kirkland, Prattville; two daughters, Brenda (Danny) Lee, Buckatunna, Miss., Carrie Merle (Newman) Hall, Natchez, Miss.; one sister, Vida mae Touchstone, Millry; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar "W.O." and Lula Mae Dearmon Kirkland and a brother, Randolph Kirkland.
A graveside service was Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. at Flat Branch Assembly of God Cemetery in the Red Creek Community of Millry with Bros. I.D. Sullivan, Jimmy Butts and Darryl Butts officiating. St. Stephens Funeral Home directed.
