Emeline McClure Porter, 86, of Jackson died Jan. 8, 2011 at a local health care facility.
She was born May 11, 1924. She was a member of the Fist Presbyterian Church, Jackson Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Jackson’s Woman’s Club, Presbyterian Women and Jackson Arts and Crafts. She was a banker.
Survivors include one sister, Rebekah M. (Chester) Noble, Jackson; numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Porter Jr., one son, Howard W. "Pete" Porter III, and one sister, Elizabeth M. "Deedie Bo" Pitman.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 10 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O. Box 577, Talladega, AL 35161-9975 or your favorite charity. Lathan Funeral Home will direct. Active pallbearers will be Ed Noble, Sam Noble, Tom Noble, Frank Noble, Speck McCants, Lonnie Murray, Donald Keith and Chris McCants.
