Clifford I. Grant, 81, a native of Whatley, the Indian Ridge community, died on Dec. 31, 2010. He was born on Dec. 24, 1929 to the late Willie Mae Wilson Grant and Levi Grant.

He was a member of the Indian Ridge Baptist Church in Whatley, a veteran of the United States Army and a past member of Keeptime Lodge No. 270 F. & A. M. of Alabama. Mr. Grant retired from Boise Cascade after more than 35 years.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Margie Odom Grant of Whatley; devoted children, Janice and Willie White of Monroeville, Linda and Herman Thomas of Mobile, and Synetta and Bruce Grant of Birmingham; grandchildren, Candace J. White, Justin P. Grant and Julian S. Grant, all of Birmingham, Brooke A. Thomas and Andrea M. Thomas, both of Mobile, and Grant J. White of Monroeville; one brother, Willie Hayes ( Veatlas) Grant of Whatley; sisters-in-law, Leona O. Black and Marie O. (M.C.) Dumas, both of Mobile; one brother-in-law, John A. Odom of Detroit, Mich.; cousins, James E. (Emma) Wilson Jr. of Willingsboro, N.J., and Ozzie M. Washington of San Antonio, Texas; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Lynum officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson.
