George Lawrence Hayes Jr., 89, of St. Stephens died Jan. 22, 2011 at Washington County Infirmary.
He was born Jan. 20, 1922. He was a member of Cedar Curve Church of God in St. Stephens. He was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors include four sons, Caron Simpson Hayes, Otis Dean Hayes, both of St. Stephens, Troy Dale Hayes, Jackson, George Lawrence III, South Williamson Port, Penn.; two daughters, Patsy Ree Hayes Daugherty, St. Stephens, Nita Gwenolia Hayes Smith, The Woodlands, Texas; two brothers, William Hayes, Paul Hayes, both of Mobile; one sister, Margaret Hayes Cook, Hagerman, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel of Jackson with Rev. Jimmy Butts to officiate. Burial will be in the Clearwater Cemetery in Wagarville.Active pallbearers will be Tony Tarver, Brad Thornton, G. Alford, Dean Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Charles Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Atchison, O.D. Driskell, Wilton Bailey, Billy Thornton, Billy Bailey, Earl Coaker, Leroy Perkins and Bruce Hansen.
