Harold Norman Holliday Sr., 77, of Mobile, died Feb. 11, 2011 at a Mobile hospital.
He was born Dec. 11, 1933. He was a native of Hinds County, Miss., having moved to Clarke County at an early age. He was a retired minister of the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church serving his last appointment for 13 years at Como United Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Jackson High School, the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi College with ministerial training at Emory University. He started his teaching career at Clarke County High School and taught as a band director and administrator for 10 years before entering the ministry where he served for over 30 years.
He was past president of the Como and Macon, Mississippi Rotary Clubs and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a Mason and Member of West Point Masonic Lodge and served a term at the State Chaplain of the Mississippi Grand Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joan Bradford Holliday, Mobile; one brother-in-law, Ralph D. (Elizabeth) Bradford, Saraland; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Gerald) Franklin, Mobile, Mary (Ken) Lovell, Atlanta, Ga.; nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Norman "Skipper" Holliday Jr.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Dr. Andy Brasher officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of choice or the Salvation Army.
