Gerald Lynch Wright, 93, of Pine Hill died Feb. 7, 2011 at J. Paul Jones Hospital in Camden.
He was born June 19, 1917 in Pine Hill. He was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a former director of the Bank of Pine Hill and member of the Wilcox Board of Education. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army in the Battle of the Bulge. He was owner and operator of Wright’s Service Station in Pine Hill for 37 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ashworth Wright, Pine Hill; three sons, Gerald Luther “Jerry” (Goldie) Wright, Thomas Kenyon “Tommy” (Mary Lee) Wright, all of Pine Hill, Emory Donald “Donny” Wright, Fairhope; one daughter, Ruby Louise Wright ( Jimmy) O’Bryant, Thomasville; one sister, Freda Bradford, Mobile; seven grandchildren, Tara Kylene Wright, Austin, Texas, Lucas Ramsey Wright, Atlanta, Ga., Kenyon Lee Wright, Auburn, Jimmy Ray O’Bryant III, Tuscaloosa, Daniel Gerald O’Bryant, Thomasville, Tommy Eric Holmes, Amanda Holmes Collier, both of Burkville; two great grandchildren.
A graveside service was Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Pine Hill Cemetery with Rev. Carl Williams officiating.
Active pallbearers were Lucas Wright, Trey O’Bryant, Daniel O’Bryant, Lee Wright, Tara Wright and Matthew Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were Stan Bradford, James Dunn, Marvin Etheridge, Delmer Fletcher, Bill Godbold, Ralph Harper, Paul Headley, Joe Hicks, Harry Mason, Ronnie Moore, Wayne Pearson, Billy Sheffield, Ralph Sheffield, Roger Sheffield, Luther Spires, Harold Swearington and Dell Williams.
