Ernest Ray Watson, 76, of Jackson died March 4, 2011 at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1934. He was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church. He was a retired pastor with the Southern Baptist Association as well as a retired teacher with the Clarke County Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Watson, Jackson; one son, Joel Ray Watson, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas; three daughters, Wanda W. Anderson, Eclectic, Deena Watson, Jobie Watson, both of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Freddie Brunnell Jr., Mobile; two sisters, Carolyn Pettis, Sherrie Brunell, both of Mobile; six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Burnell, his father, Henley Watson, a brother, Frank Watson and a step-father, Freddie Brunell Sr.
Visitation will be Monday, March 7 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Forest Avenue Baptist Church with Revs. Joel Watson and Don Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Memorial Gardens.
Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Forest Avenue Baptist Church of Jackson or to your favorite charity.
Active pallbearers will be Pete Anderson, Freddie Brunell Jr., Fred Brunell Sr., Ray Baber, Lee Chestnut and Dale Pettis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Auburn Martin and the Cornerstone Sunday School Class of Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
