Emmitt Gilmore, 87, of Salitpa, died April 25, 2011 at Jackson Medical Center.
He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Salitpa. He served on the deacon board. He was the owner and operator of Gilmore Used Cars and Parts in Salitpa for more than 60 years.
Survivors include four sons, James (Annie) Gilmore, Johnny (Sandra) Robinson, all of Jackson, Jessie (Hazel) Gilmore, George (Mary) Gilmore, all of Coffeeville; three daughters, Emmie (Pervis) Calhoun, Grove Hill, Gwen (Al) Jarvis, Montgomery, Rachel (Sammie) Moore, Jackson; George R. Gilmore, Salitpa; three sisters, Nonie M. Griffin, Grove Hill, Bessie L. Bracy, Cloradean Kennedy, all of Mobile; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother,
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginger V. Gilmore; parents; brothers, Walter Gilmore, A.G. Gilmore and A.B. Gilmore; and two sisters, Mattie Hall and Boydee Calhoun.
Viewing will be Friday, April 29 from 2-6 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home; and Saturday, April 30, from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral hour at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Hurley James, pastor, as officiating minister. Burial will be in the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
