Fred Willis Kilgore Jr., 83, of Montgomery died May 10, 2011 in Montgomery.
He was born March 1, 1928 in Birmingham. He was County Agricultural Assistant Extension Agent in Sumter County for 20 years and the county Agricultural Extension Coordinator for Clarke County for 12 years. He was in the United States Army from 1952-1954 serving in the Korean Conflict as Command Sergeant Major and was in the United States Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring in July of 1984. He was a charter member of the Grove Hill Lions Club and a member of the Grove Hill Civitan. He was Mission Trip Coordinator at Grove Hill Baptist Church and Brotherhood President for 10 years. He participated in 19 mission trips including a month in Thailand. He was a graduate of Auburn University in 1951 and received his Masters Degree and Specialist Degree in Extension Education from Mississippi State.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Ann B. Kilgore, Montgomery; two sons, Alan Fredrick (Susan Boggs) Kilgore, Oconta Falls, Wisconsin, Don Edward Kilgore, Clanton; one daughter Karen Elaine (Schuyler C.) Eubank IV, Montgomery; one brother, John (Josephine) Wilson Kilgore, Smyrna, Georgia; one sister, Katherine Kilgore Spickard, Livermore, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Kilgore Guerra, Jacksonville, Fla., Lindsey Kilgore, Tuscaloosa, Bethany Kilgore, Jennifer Ann Kilgore, Jessica Kilgore, all of Oconta Falls, Wisconsin, Katherine Ann Eubank, Montgomery, Ana-Kate Kilgore, Dauphin Island; two great-grandchildren, Loretta Guerra, Ruby Sue Guerra, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; one nephew, Michael (Debbie) Kilgore, Ashville, North Carolina; three nieces, Angela (Eugene) Quarton, Valley Springs, Calif., Sharon (Chet) Lanhan, Pleasanton, Calif., Virginia Fiveash, Smyrna, Georgia; two great nieces, Megan Fiveash, Diana Jo Kilgore.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Earl Kilgore.
Visitation will be Friday, May 13 at Grove Hill Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service with Dr. Rev. John Copeland, pastor of the Fulton Baptist Church and Rev. Lee Merck, pastor of the Grove Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Don Bolton, Norman Downey, Sammy Fendley, Lloyd Gaddy, Ronnie Pruitt, and J.W. Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Burge Sunday School Class.
