Deacon Charlie Vivian Burroughs, 91, of Whatley died May 17, 2011.
He was born April 20, 1920 to the late John and Mary Burroughs. He joined the Indian Ridge Baptist Church at an early age. Under the leadership of Rev. E.M. DuBose he was ordained as a deacon. He loved to garden and fish.
Survivors include two sons, James C. Burroughs, Riverside, Calif., Grady (Flora) Burroughs, Frisco City; four daughters, Betty (Oscar) Riddle, Palmetto, Georgia, Irene (James) King, Mobile, Clara (Warren) Pippen, Hinesville, Georgia, Marilyn Wood, Columbus, Georgia; one brother, Bob F. Burroughs; one sister, Louise; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; four sister-in-laws; one brother-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phydelia Orse, four brothers and three sisters.
The service was May 21 at 11 a.m. at Indian Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Lynum officiating.
