James Calvin Thompson Sr., 72, of Vineland died May 31, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1938 in Coxheath, Ala. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fendley Thompson, Vineland; three sons, Jim (Judy) Thompson, Thomasville, Calvin (Kerri) Thompson, Paradise, Texas, Woodie Thompson, Brewton; two step-sons, Charles (Rane) Syphrit Jr., Thomasville, John Dunga, Calvert; two daughters, Sharon (Donald Joe) James, Fulton, Cristal (Reuben) Broussard, Paradise, Texas; two step-daughters, Becky (Mike) Tidwell, Theodore, Sherry Dunga, Calvert; five brothers, Bruce Thompson, Ronnie Thompson, Paul Thompson, Donald Lee Thompson, Michael Ray Thompson; two sisters, Betty Jane McGilberry, Debra Dungan; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Luker, his father, James Leroy Thompson, his mother, Maggie Inez Etheridge, and two brothers, Glen Thompson and Roy Thompson.
The service was June 2 at 3 p.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. John Averitt and Cecil Dean Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Vineland.
Active pallbearers were Shawn James, Roy King, Jimmy Thompson, J.C. Goodman, Rickey Shephard and Eric Shephard. 
Alternate pallbearer was David Thompson.
