Lula Marie Young, 78, of Mobile died June 8, 2011 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.
She was born Sept. 22, 1932. She was a former resident of Jackson. She was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a retired waitress having worked at Ray & Tom’s Restaurant.
Survivors include four sons, Billy (Melanie) Young, Coconut Creek, Fla., Thomas ( Tandra) Young, Okeechobee, Fla., Richard (Pamela) Young, Mobile, Eddie (Laurie) Young, Inverness, Fla.; three daughters, Michelle ( Tommy) Hawks, Hollywood, Fla., Nell Cone (Carl) Trimble, Coral Springs, Fla., Beth (Stan) Holder, Lorraine, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grover Thomas Hoven, her mother, Vera Mae McDonald Hoven, her husband, Edward Young, one son, John Young, two brothers, Coma “Pee Wee” Hoven, Dorsey Fait Hoven; two sisters, Lizzie Sheffield, Dorothy Mae Bradley.
The service was June 12 at 2 p.m. at Stave Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Jamie Lay and Mike Maloy officiating. Burial was in the Stave Creek Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers were Darryl Beck, Mike Sheffield, Buzz Jordan, Cecil Singley, Brandon Overstreet and Jimmy Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were the Sunday school class, Melvin Stanley, Franklin Anderson, Ray and Dot Beck, Betty Counselman, Johnny and Patsy Counselman, Mildred Daniels, Chester Hoven, Eva Mae Hoven, Leslie Hoven, McCharles and Hazel Huggins, John D. and Margaret Knight, Gwen Thomas, Lavaster Thomas, Sue Thomas, Mildred Wade, Graham and Faye Wilson and Marion and Mary Wilson.
