She was born Feb. 3, 1932. She was a native of Grove Hill. She was the daughter of the late Earnestine Coates and Elmore Taite.
Affectionately known as "Mo-dear", "Lil-Sis" and "Sis-Sis" by family members, many referred to her as "the lady with the long fingernails". Mrs. Baldwin is remembered as never having met a stranger. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always giving unselfishly of her time, self and energies to family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Baldwin, Jackson, Paula (Ivan) Love, Grove Hill; three sisters, Floretta Dickinson, Scyrene, Lillie ( Wilbur) Moultrie, Juanita Taite, all of Grove Hill; one brother, Thomas (Mary) Taite, Grove Hill; brothers-inlaw, Sidney Love Jr., Grove Hill, Melvin Baldwin Sr., Cartersville, Ga.; a devoted granddaughter, April Baldwin; godson, Tommy Kidd; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Gladys Kidd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waverly "Dub" Baldwin; three sisters, Minnie Mae Martin, Voncile Love and Rena Green; and one brother, Ananias Taite.
The service will be June 30 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Rev. Cory Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery.
