William Waite McCorquodale, 86, of Jackson died July 8, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 7, 1925. He was lovingly known as "Pop." He grew up in the First Baptist Church of Jackson where he served as a deacon. In recent years, his church family has been the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He retired as postmaster of Jackson after working for the United States Postal Service for 36 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Etta Jones McCorquodale, Jackson; two daughters, Etta Marie Arnott, Jackson, Brenda (the late Lane) Sellers, Prattville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Crim and a son-in-law, Lane Sellers.
The service was July 10 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Jackson with Rev. Jim DuFriend officiating. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
Active pallbearers were his grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon and Deana Crim, Amy and Tony Sawyer, Ross Crim, Will and Jessica Arnott, Travis Arnott, Andy and Jen Sellers, Mark and Misty Sellers and Abby and Ben Carmichael.
