Culvain Preston McIntyre, 85, of Jackson died July 21, 2011 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
He was born July 5, 1926. He was a resident of the Pleasant Grove Community. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a Mason with Coffeeville Masonic Lodge and Frankville Lodge-W.N. Reynolds #900, was a charter member of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department Posse. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a welder with ADDSCO.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred McIntyre, Jackson; one son, Jimmy Lee (Jacque) McIntyre, Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Elaine Sheffield, Chickasaw, Sarah Pugh, Jackson; one sister, Lois Baugh, Wetumpka; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Gibbs, Janie Stokley and a brother, Roy McIntyre.
The service was July 24 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, (Winn community), Jackson. He was lain in state one hour prior to the service. Burial was in the Griffin Family Cemetery in the Pleasant Grove Community with Masonic Graveside Honors.
Active pallbearers were Joseph McIntyre, James Pugh, Albert Stokley Jr., William Coleman Wilkerson Jr., Laurie Roberts and Ronald Lee.
