Dorothy Mae Stewart, 68, of Jackson died Aug. 2, 2011 at Jackson Medical Center.
She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Jackson. She was an employee of Vanity Fair for more than 20 years.
Survivors include one son, Bernard Stewart, Jackson; two daughters, Lelia (Robert) Darrington, Cathy (Roy) Williams, both of Jackson; a sister and brother, Lena Pruitt, John (Maudin) Allen, both of Fulton; one aunt, Mary Alice Pugh, Grove Hill; one granddaughter that she raised, Santan Jenkins, Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Washington and Emma Powe and an adopted mother, Sarah Stewart; one son, Willie Earl Coates Sr., six brothers, Levon Stewart, Tommy Dee, Charlie Lee, James Ray, Grady Hill and St. Davis and special friends, Roosevelt Jenkins and Mary Ervin.
The service Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis, pastor and Douglas Pernell officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.
