Lane

Jerald Wayne "Jerry" Lane, 63, of Hawthorn died Aug. 30, 2011 at Washington County Hospital in Chatom.
He was born March 15, 1948. He was a native of Mississippi. He was an electrician for Olin Chemical.
Survivors include his former wife and caregiver, Vicki Lane, Hawthorn; two sons, Dannon Lane, Hawthorn, Scott Lane, Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Roxanne (Bryan) Lourcey, Vernon, Fla., Ashley Lane, Birmingham; one sister, LeMoyne (Joe) Hearn, Chatom; father-in-law, Carol Patrick, Hawthorn; three grandchildren, Samuel Lourcey, Dylan Lane and Alexis Lane.
The service was Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. at Washington County Baptist Church in Deerhead with Rev. Dean Downey officiating. Burial was in the Hooks-Harris Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Eddy Patrick, Kelly Waite, Hayden Waite, Jared Parnell, Clint Howard, Willie Smith, Owen Busby, Jesse "Rusty" Pace.
Lavert Duke, 83, of Coffeeville died Aug. 30, 2011 at Camden Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927. He was a native of Grove Hill. He was a member of Center Point Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Duke, Coffeeville; three sons, William A. Duke, David L. Duke, both of Grove Hill, Terry A. Duke, Sweet Water; one brother, Grady Duke, Grove Hill; two sisters, Mary Lou Reeves, Jackson, Anna Gollott, Mobile; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 1 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel in Grove Hill. The service will be Friday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel in Grove Hill. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery on the Piney Woods Road in Grove Hill.
