James Mavis “Snooks” Reid, 88, of Thomasville died Sept. 2, 2011 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.
He was born Oct. 20, 1922 in Tallahatta Springs. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church. He was a former accountant.
Survivors include his wife, Runelle Crawford Reid, Thomasville; two sons, James Monroe Reid, Thomasville, Terry Wayne Reid, Millbrook; a sister, Juanita Flemming, Thomasville; a brother, Roy L. Reid, Thomasville; two grandchildren, James Mavis Reid II in Afghanistan, Tera Frances Reid, Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Reid.
The service was Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church with Revs. Benny Crawford and Danny Ellis officiating. Burial was Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Tommy Reid, Clint Thompson, Robert Smith, Johnny Reid, Kenny Kelley, and Paul Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Elam Baptist Church, Tim Kelley, Willis Paul Slade, Dale Jordan, Eugene Phillips and Harold Reid.
