Mary Jean Sheffield, 78, of Fulton died Sept. 10, 2011 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Thomasville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton. She was a retired security guard from Scotch Lumber Company.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby J. (Brian) Melton, Wartrace, Tenn., Terry S. (Woody) Bailey, Fulton; one brother, Charles Roberts, Pine Hill; four grandchildren, Melissa Meadows, Staci (Lee) Finney, James Richard Bailey; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sheffield, and parents, John Roberts and Mary Bell Megginson Roberts.
A graveside service was Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville with Dr. John Copeland officiating.
Active pallbearers were James Bailey, Lee Finney, Michael Sollie, Brian Melton, Mike Norris and Morris Allday.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Baptist Church of Fulton and members of the Fulton Fire Department.
