Jimmie Bernice Fowler Campbell, 90, of Grove Hill died Oct. 6, 2011 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Ellen. She was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She enjoyed collecting and displaying antiques and collectibles.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, James Enoch Campbell, Grove Hill; two sons, James Lanier “Lou” Campbell, Grove Hill, Roger Gray Campbell, Marion, Virginia; one daughter, Jane Campbell Patterson, Opelika; six grandchildren, Lynne Campbell, Leslie (Bill) Graves, all of Fulton, Kristin (Bobby) Michael, Charlotte, N.C., Rebecca Campbell, Lake Mary, Fla., Ryan (Regina) Kearley, Auburn, Kyle Kearley, Gainesville, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Campbell and Clarke Graves, Avery Lee Michael; and a host of beloved nephews, nieces who called her Aunt “Bern” affectionately and many friends.
Mrs. Campbell was the last surviving child of John and Annie Fowler, pioneer residents of the Allen-Walker Springs community. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
The service was Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Tompkins Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Burial was in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Clark, Rodger Hare, Keith Newton, Bo Powell, Paul Williams and Elma Averett.
