James Roy Dixon, 82, of Dixons Mills died Oct. 13, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 27, 1929 in Dixons Mills. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a farm equipment mechanic and a retired maintenance supervisor from MacMillan Bloedel, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Hill Dixon, Dixons Mills; one son, James Malvin Dixon, Dixons Mills; one daughter, Ann Dixon White, Canton, Ga.; one sister, Elizabeth Dixon Hicks, Dixons Mills; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
The service was Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial was in the Dunning Cemetery in Dixons Mills.
Active pallbearers were Eddie Hill, Jimmy Dixon, Wiley "Buddy" Stephens Jr., Lane Smith, Vann Phillips, and Tommy Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers were Lyman Jones, Joe Hicks, Steve Glass, Mike Hill, Claude Owen, Hall Stewart and Neil Champion.
