James Clyde (Jim) Wilson, 71, died Oct. 24, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born Sept. 18, 1940 in Winn in Clarke County. His untimely death following complications from surgery on Sept. 1 was a tragic loss for his family, friends and business associates who loved and respected him.
After graduation from CCHS he spent a 4-year term with the United States Air Force. Post his service discharge he went to work for Nabisco Company where he was a sales representative with this company for a good number of years. He returned and resided in Grove Hill with his family where he owned and operated Farmer’s Hardware for about 10 years. He moved to Tuscaloosa in 1986 where he went to work for Barksdale Warrior/Osment Chemical as one of their top sales representatives for 25 years.
Survivors include Elizabeth N. Wilson; two sons, Lane Patrick (Julie) Wilson, Huntsville, Lt. Col. James Russell (Jennifer) Wilson, Atlanta, Ga.; only daughter, Heather Williams by a previous marriage to Catherine Hare Cope; sons, Christopher Stuart, Linden, Joshua Ray Wilson by a previous marriage to Tami Jones Taite. He also leaves 11 beautiful grandchildren, most that were old enough to love and have wonderful memories of him; his only sister, Betty (George) Ricketts and his only niece, Kathryn Ricketts Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coma and Clyde Wilson.
The service was Oct. 28 at the First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa. Burial was in the W.A. Smith Family Cemetery in Hebron at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to the St. Vincent’s Foundation or the First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa.
