Edward Gavin Henderson, 96, of Dixons Mills died Nov. 16, 2011 at Mobile Infirmary.

He was born April 13, 1915 in Shiloh, Ala. He was a member of the Dixons Mills United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Oliver Lodge #334 F&AM. He was a retired postmaster of Dixons Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Pittman Henderson, Dixons Mills; two daughters, Norma Henderson Dalgety, Dixons Mills, Janean Henderson (Terry) McCawley, Mobile; seven grandchildren, Scott Edward (Kelly) Dalgety, Mobile, Mark (Kimberly) Dalgety, Columbus, Georgia, Kathryn Dalgety (Jeremy) McGuffin, Yuba, Calif., John (Becca) Dalgety, Jennifer Dalgety (Ken) Godwin, Anna McCawley (Frank) Linier, all of Mobile, Matthew McCawley, Atlanta, Georgia; 10 greatgrandchildren; nephews and nieces.

The service was Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Dunford Cole, Leon Harrison, and Aaron Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Dunning Cemetery in Dixons Mills.

Active pallbearers were Bill Harrison, Jimmy Dixon, Lane Smith, Lee Hamilton, Nathan Hamilton and Jim Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Frank Dozier, Dr. Daveta Dozier, Bruce Cogle, Jerry Harrington, Lyman Jones, Steve Glass, Henry Morgan, Greg Parten, Jimmy Clyde Edmonds, James Edmonds and James White.
