Thomas O’Neal "Rack" Kidd, 71, of Winn died Dec. 29, at Jackson Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 8, 1939 to the parentage of the late Eddie Charlie Kidd and Letha Bettis Kidd. He was retired as a groundskeeper at H.W. Pearce Memorial Park and Golf Course. He was a member of Berry’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church of Winn where before failing health served as a trustee, class leader and missionary. He also served on the Winn Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in the formation as a whole. "Rack" as he was affectionately called, enjoyed playing dominoes and card games. He was an avid University of Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Roll Tide!
Survivors include three sons, Frank Gamble, Grove Hill, Kenny (Tangela) Kidd, Randy Kidd, all of Jackson; one daughter, Sandra Kidd, Jackson; one sister, Nettie Nall England, Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn G. Kidd; a sister, Pearline Bumpers and two brothers, Jessie Edward Kidd and Charlie Kidd.
The service was Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at Berry’s Chapel A.M.E. Church of Winn with Rev. Edward Seabron, pastor and eulogist. Burial was in Berry’s Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
