James Wayne Hinson, 69, of Cullman died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Brewton on March 17, 1942 to James Lonnie Hinson and Mamie Gertrude King Hinson. He was a 1963 graduate of Auburn University, with a Bachelors Degree in chemistry. He went on to work for 37 years for CIBA Specialty Chemicals, retiring as the head of Packing and Contract Manufacturing for the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
He was also a lay minister for nine years in Choctaw County. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman, he was a member of the Vestry and taught several adult Sunday school classes.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margaret Hinson; one son, Andy (Sarah) Hinson; one daughter, Christine Hinson (Commander Douglas) Gordon; six grandchildren, Joseph, James, Emily Margaret Hinson, Christopher, Nicholas James, Benjamin Gordon.
A memorial service was Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, with Father Robert Blackwell officiating.
