Annette Chapman Nettles, 51, died Dec. 4, 2011.
She was born Sept. 30, 1960 in Grove Hill to the late Lawrence Chapman Sr. and Nonie Mae Henderson. She was raised by her devoted grandmother, the late Sarah Lee Portis. Accepting Christ at an early age, she united with the Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2. She was a member of the Clarke County High School graduating Class of 1978 and was employed for 10 years by the Alabama Tombigbee Rural Transportation (ATRC). She took pleasure and pride in helping others and was well-known throughout her community and loved by many. She cherished her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving children, Latasha Nettles, Grove Hill, Shawntae Nettles, Birmingham, James L. (Nakeda) Nettles, Woodstock, Hugh (Nikki) Smith, Monroeville; one devoted grandchild, Nya M. Hamilton; three brothers, Lawrence (Regina) Chapman Jr., Walker Springs, Eddie Adams, Thomasville, Vernon Henderson, Prichard; two sisters, Lutricia Adams (Will) McCalpine, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Renee Henderson, Prichard; devoted sister-in-law Thelma (Leroy) Carey, Jackson; three uncles, Vayton (Shirley) Chapman, Jamie Lee Portis, Charles Edward Portis, all of Clarke County; five aunts, Lillian Chapman, Grove Hill, Juanita Johnson, Thomasville, Ethelrene Crump, Fairburn, Georgia, Helen Portis, Gardenia, Calif., Mary (Zachery) Penegar, Port Allen, La.; devoted cousins, Arnita (George) Bowen, College Park, Georgia and Shawanda Leonard, Ellenwood, Georgia; devoted friend/coworker, Marion (Lenel) Calhoun, Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and countless numbers of special friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents.
The service was Dec. 10 at 12 noon at Pine Chapel Baptist No. 2 Saturday, Dec. 10. with Rev. Allen Barnes as pastor and Rev. Fredrick Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Pine Chapel Cemetery.
