Nonie Mae Pugh Bumpers, 96, of Mobile died Dec. 8, 2011 in a local hospital.
She was born March 20, 1915 in Coffeeville. She was a resident of Mobile for the past 70 years. She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one son, Daniel (Bobbie) Bumpers, daughter-in-law, Carole Bumpers; two daughters, Catherine (Glenn) Walker, Shirley (James) Callaway, Jeannette Nash; one brother, Glover Pugh; one sister, Marguerite Garison; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Bedwell Pugh, Otis Brackett Pugh; her husband, Eidson Lee Bumpers, her son, Edwin Bumpers, her daughter, Janice Bumpers.
The service was Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Allen, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Gerald Walker, Glenn Walker, Philip Walker, Ferrell Bumpers, Keith Bumpers, James Callaway, Jeff Merschman and Wayne Pugh.
Honorary pallbearers were Carl Walker, Ronnie Garison, Mark Stewart and Roger Pugh.
