She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Fork Baptist Church where she served faithfully until death. She was the Church Mother and truly loved her church family very dearly. Mrs. Lynum never met a stranger and opened her home to everyone, especially children throughout the community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lynum; a son, Rodney Lynum; sisters and brothers, Nettie L. Davis, Pat Thomas, Prince Thomas, and James Thomas; and a grandson, Kadisheil Vince Lynum.
She leaves to cherish her memories, eight loving and devoted children, Patricia Thomas Lynum of Mobile; Genet (Dennis) Horn of Whatley; Benjamin Lynum of Suggsville; Anita (Henry) Turner of North Babylon, NY; George Lynum of Atlanta, GA; Edith Lynum and Lakisha Lynum, both of Suggsville; and Jarvis (Cynequa) Lynum of Jackson.
Also cherishing her memories are 20 grandchildren; four loving and devoted, Joshua (Shaney) Lynum, Brittany Lynum, Justin Horn, Tarius “Tootie” Lynum; six great grandchildren (with two soon to be born); one sister-in-law, Hannah Thomas, a host of devoted nieces, devoted nephews, devoted cousins, and many, many, special friends, namely; L.C. Portis, Hattie Buck, Bertha Wright, Lucille Wright, Jean Rodgers, Vernice Hill, and Gravel Morris.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. from the Cedar Fork Baptist Church, Suggsville, Rev. Credell Bolden, pastor and eulogist. Viewing will be 12 noon until the service. Following the interment in the church cemetery, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church.
