Amy Elizabeth McFadyen, 93, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 21, 2011. Amy was born July 24, 1918, in Clarke County, to the late Jodie Morgan and Bettis Snodgrass. She first married Oley Byrd Smith of Thomasville who preceded her in death in 1994.
In 1960, she married Thomas “Mac” McFadyen. She was preceded in death by Mac in 2000. Amy and Mac resided in Orlando, Florida, Bitburg, Germany, and Bossier City, Louisiana, before they came to Melbourne in 1998. They were members and officers of the VFW and DAV and their related auxiliaries. Mac was a 32nd Degree Mason and Amy was a sister in the Eastern Star. They were active volunteers and Amy accumulated over 10,000 hours at the Veterans Hospital in Shreveport.
Amy McFadyen is survived by her son, Robert Doyle Smith, friends June Greene and Jack Greene, all of Melbourne Beach, Florida; grandson, Herbert Smith, California; her beloved niece, Rebecca Lynn, Nicholsville, who lovingly served as her longtime link to home; and her faithful friend Wanda Coast of Rockledge, Florida.
No calling hours are scheduled. Amy will be buried with her beloved Mac at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
