Sidney L. Bumpers, 86, of Butler died Jan. 14, 2012 at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler.
He was born May 16, 1925. He was a native of Union Chapel out from Coffeeville. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bumpers, Butler; one step-son, Freddie (Carolyn) Moore; one brother, Jude Bumpers, Coffeeville; three grandchildren, Van (April) Moore, Meridian, Miss., Gray Moore, E.J. Moore, both of Butler; two great-grandchildren, Emma Moore, Heidi Moore, both of Butler.
The service was Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sterling Baptist Church with Revs. Butch Starks and Danny Nelson officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Van Moore, Gray Moore, E.J. Moore, Wendel Hodge, Randy Hurst and Keith Cook.
Honorary pallbearers were Frank Guinn, Joe Casey, Sammy Gibson and Alvin Jordan.
