Lovie Lee Horne, age 75, a native and resident of Whatley was born to the parentage of the late Walter Lee Horne and Ida Rodgers Horne on July 17, 1936. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Indian Ridge Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. She served faithfully on the usher board, sang in the choir, and was a lead soloist for numerous years. She truly loved to serve the Lord. Lovie, affectionately called “Bumma Horne”, departed this life Jan. 12, 2012 and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wonderful and loving memories will be cherished in the hearts of her three devoted daughters, Mrs. Ethel ( Thomas) Allen, Gosport, Mrs. Kimberly ( Tim) Jordan, Irondale, Mrs. Kathy (Kenneth) Speight, Birmingham; one brother, James ( Tina) Burroughs, Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren, Gregory (LaToya) Allen, Montgomery, Thomas “Lobo” Allen, Grove Hill, Iesha (Renard) Williams, McCalla, Jessica Smith, Columbus, Ohio, Angelica Allen, Montgomery; three greatgrandchildren, Qwantavion (“QT” as she called him), Stone Mountain, Georgia, Jada Allen, Montgomery, Ay’Miah McPherson, Montgomery; two aunts, Earlean Horne, Whatley, Ora Dee Horne of Ohio; one special friend, Mrs. Veatlas Grant, Whatley; an adopted son, Rev. Matthew (Geraldine) Davis, Frisco City; a host of cousins and friends cherish her memories as well. Ms. Horne was preceded in death by a devoted friend, Frankie Horne.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 20 at 12 noon from the Indian Ridge Baptist Church of Whatley; Rev. Johnny Lynum, pastor; Rev. Matthew Davis, eulogist. Viewing will be Thursday, Jan. 19 from 1 until 6 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home; viewing will also be Friday at 11 a.m. until the 12 noon service hour.
