Ida Mae Wilson, 99, died March 3, 2012 at Thomasville Nursing home.
She was born May 23, 1912. She was a native and lifelong resident of Grove Hill. She was a member of the Grove Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class. She was a retired Area Supervisor for Phil Enterprises selling World Book Encyclopedias and Child Craft in three counties and was proud to be a poll worker in Grove Hill. She was very patriotic and always kept her flag flying.
Survivors include her son, L.J. ( June) Wilson, Grove Hill; three daughters, Betty M. (the late Bill) Howell, Jackson, Catherine (Leonard) Knight, Shirley (Frank) Hickman, all of Grove Hill; sisters-in-law, Lillian Starks, Jackson, Lucille Deas, Coffeeville; eight grandchildren, Patsy Hicks, Jimmy Knight, Lowery Wilson, Jeff Wilson, Sherrie Nichols, Anthony Darryl Wilson and Chris Hickman; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson, a grandson, Himer Hickman, parents, Billy and Betty Sheffield; five brothers and two sisters.
The service was March 5 at 2 p.m. at the Grove Hill Baptist Church with Revs. David Curtis and Lee Merck officiating. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
Active pallbearers were Charles Guy, Russell Huggins, Stan Hutto, John Richburg, Norman Downey, Alton Deas, Lloyd Gaddy and Wayne Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers were Members of her TEL Sunday School Class at the Grove Hill Baptist Church: Mrs. Marjorie McCoy, Mrs. Ida Mae Bell, Mrs. Madge Becton and Mrs. Maxine McMillan.
