David Duke Lindsey, 81, of Whatley died Aug. 30, 2012 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was a born Sept. 26, 1930. He was a member of the Horeb Baptist Church. He was retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include one son, Mickey (Gayle) Lindsey, Pace, Fla.; one daughter, Susan (Daryl) Drinkard, Thomasville; one brother, Royce (Betty) Lindsey, Whatley; three grandchildren, Matt (Emily) Drinkard, Jessica (Matt) Barnes, Jay Lindsey, Cody (Karen) Drinkard; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Barnes, Mary Lindsey Drinkard.
He was preceded in the death by his wife, Norene Lindsey; two brothers, Joe Payne Lindsey and Gayle Lindsey.
The service was Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. at Horeb Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Shewmake officiating. Burial was in the Whatley Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Matt Barnes, Cody Drinkard, Matt Drinkard, Jay Lindsey, Myron Gregory, Samuel Gregory and Jacob Gregory.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Edward Garrick, Bennie Fuller, Charles Knowles, William Mc- Connell, Gene Parker, “Chicken” Rew, Rodger Robinson.
