Mrs. Lardella “Peach” Pugh Martin, age 90, was born in Grove Hill March 31, 1922. She crossed the threshold of Heaven’s gates on Sept. 1, 2012 at Choctaw General Hospital, Butler.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker who thoroughly enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family. Some of her greatest enjoyments were derived from the planting and growing of vegetables and flowers.

Mrs. Martin had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Mount Zion #2 Baptist Church, Grove Hill, where she attended faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so. She lived her life as a good Samaritan.

Lardella was preceded in death by her parents Charlie Pugh and Bennie Franklin Pugh; her loving husband of 56 years, Garner P. Martin, Sr.; a daughter, Dauphine Martin Pugh, her son, Garner Martin, Jr., and a stepdaughter, Mary Jackson Johnson.

She is survived by a son, McArthur Martin (Patricia Ann) of Mayo, FL; a daughter, Lillian Martin Adams (Chester) of Grove Hill, both who lovingly cared for her the last 13 years of her life; a sister, Emma Belle Hill of Prichard; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; assistant caregiver, Ora Mae Russell, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Viewing will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service hour at Mount Zion #2 Baptist Church of Grove Hill, Rev. Fernell Pendleton, eulogist. Following burial in the church cemetery, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
