Arrest made in Thomasville murder case

A press conference has just concluded in Thomasvill detailing the arrest of a man for the murder of Thomasville businesswoman Fredia Collins Monday, Sept. 10 at her insurance office in the downtown business district. Here is the text of a news release provided by authorities:


As a result of the on-going investigation by the Fredia Collins Task Force, Capital Murder charges have been filed against Jarvis D. Culpepper of Thomasville.

Culpepper was arrested in the early morning hours today by the Fredia Collins Task Force and is now incarcerated in the Clarke County jail. All inquiries and other information regarding the case should be directed to District Attorney of the First Judicial Circuit Spence Walker. You may contact DA Walker at his office at 251.275.3144.

City of Thomasville would like to thank the Fredia Collins Task Force for their untiring efforts over the last five days in working to solve this crime. The agencies who participated in the Fredia Collins Task Force are Thomasville Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, Alabama State Troopers, ABC Agents, Grove Hill Police Department, FBI, DA Spence Walker’s Office, Alabama Department of Homeland Security, Clarke County Coroner’s Office, the Alabama Department of Corrections K9 Tracking Unit, Clarke County Drug Task Force Agents, and the Alabama Department of Forensics. This Task Force worked tirelessly to bring closure to this tragic event.

We would again like to thank the citizens of Thomasville who contacted the Task Force with tips and information that provided invaluable assistance to the team during their investigation in this case.
