James “Jimmy” Smith, 78, of Thomasville died Sept. 16, 2012 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was born Sept. 9, 1934 in Moss Point, Miss. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a former dispatcher with MacMillan Bloedel Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Smith; one son, Dewayne (Kaye) Smith; daughter, Jeanne (Warren) Noble, Thomasville; a brother, Charles (Cecil George) Smith, Ocean Springs, Miss.; three grandchildren, J.C. Smith, Dixons Mills, Christi Mathers, Butler, Katie Smith, Thomasville; a great-grandchild, Jayce Smith, Dixons Mills; daughter-in-law, Joann Smith, Birmingham; nephew, Trevor Smith, Ocean Springs, Miss.; niece, Alta Mereo, Ocean Springs, Miss.; and a special friend, Jody Lindsey.
The service was Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Ellis and Revs. Lister Hill and Bobby Hodge officiating. Burial was in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Rodney Harrison, Jodey Ennis, Kevin Ennis, Michael Breland, Trevor Smith and Terry Smith.
