Luther Gilder “Billy” Day, 93, of Mobile died Sept. 29, 2012 at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1919 in Bashi. He moved to Mobile in 1959 and joined Cottage Hill Baptist Church in 1961. He was a World War II United States Army Veteran. He was a former mechanic in Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Parden Day, Mobile; two daughters, Twilla Day (Tommy Reid), Thomasville, Dawn Day (Brian) Boutwell, Mobile; three grandchildren, Adam Reid, Grove Hill, Neal Reid, Thomasville, Rece Boutwell, Mobile; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Reid, Tyler Reid, both of Grove Hill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Quill Cassity and his twin sister, Luna Bell Ott.
The service was Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Ellis officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Tommy Reid, Brian Boutwell, Adam Reid, Neal Reid, Henry Ott and Thomas Ott.
Honorary pallbearers were Edward Kelley and J.F. Mitchell.
