Lester Ray Purvis, 80, of Coffeeville died Oct. 29, 2012.
He was born Jan. 22, 1932. He was a former resident of Hialeah, FL. He was manager of the police car fleet for the city of Hialeah for several years. He retired from the automobile stock room with the city of Hialeah. He was a member and deacon of the West Bend Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the VFW Post 5106 in Thomasville, a member of the Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the RSVP and
He served in the United States Air Force during the Ko- rean Conflict.
Survivors include two sons, James Purvis, Harvey Purvis, both of Clearmont, FL; two step-daughters, Jenny Lynn Lyons, Hawaii, Sharon Melton, Vera Beach, FL; one brother, Roy Purvis, Jesup, GA; one sister, Jeanette Allen, Birmingham; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The service was Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at West Bend Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Dykeman officiating. Burial was in the West Bend Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jessie Lathan, Josh Bentley, Tim Allen, Byron Allen, Mr. Stringer, Levi Crumpton and Kevin Purvis.
