Chief Bruce Anthony Ambrose, 40, of Grove Hill died Nov. 18, 2012.
He was born April 5, 1972. He was the son of Thresa and Johnny Ambrose of Grove Hill. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Zion Branch Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
He attended Clarke County High School where he received honors in forestry and MVP in football among others. He graduated in the Class of 1990 and soon after joined the United States Navy where he served until God called him home.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Beatrice Ambrose, Virginia Beach, Va.; two children, daughter, Julisha Monae' Ambrose; a son, Anthony Jamel Ambrose, both of Virginia Beach; loving and devoted parents, Brother Johnny and Thresa Ambrose of Grove Hill; three siblings, brother, Labaron Ambrose, Grove Hill and sisters, Irish Ambrose, Birmingham and Nicole (Phillip) Bettis, Jackson; one uncle, Luther Howard, Canton, Ohio; five aunts, Rosie Howard, Grove Hill, Yvonne Taylor. Brewton, Alean Howard, Worcester, Mass., Mamie Johnson and Beulah (Alphonso) Wright, both of Mobile; two close nephews, Marquentrell Lambert, Gosport, Phillip “PJ” Bettis, Jackson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were grandparents, Brother James (Rachell) Ambrose and Deacon Nathaniel (Niona) Howard; and a brother, Lorenzo "Mack" Williams.
The service will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at Clarke County High School auditorium. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the 12 noon funeral hour. Rev. Woodrow Bullard, pastor of Zion Branch Baptist Church will be the officiating minister. Burial will follow in Mackey Branch No. 1 Cemetery in Gosport with full military honors.
